Friends of School
Friends of Bugthorpe School (Friends) is a charitable body registered with HMRC to allow tax exempt donations. We support the school in a number of ways including fundraising to replace worn-out equipment or enhance the children’s learning by purchasing extra resources or subsidising school trips. Our fundraisers are also a good opportunity to socialise with other parents.

We are a PTA and everyone with a connection to the school (parents, carers, family, staff and friends) is a member of Friends. Imagine how great it would be if we could get everyone to join in. So, if you can bake a cake, buy a cake, lend a hand, shop online through easyfundraising, fill a bag for Bags2School, get your company to match fund, donate a raffle prize, donate an hour of your time, buy a raffle ticket, man a stall, sponsor your child – then we need you. All contributions help, big or small.
We have an AGM every autumn term and usually a meeting (or two) to plan events in the spring and summer terms. Everyone is welcome to these meetings. Friends is led by a small committee, current committee members are listed below:

With the money raised from fundraisers we have been able to additional equipment for school such as our greenhouse and the stage. We also buy book bags and PE bags for Reception children, small Christmas gifts for each child every year and leaver’s gifts for Year 6 children.
In the past twelve months Friends have provided the school with:
- New curtains for the school hall
- A noticeboard in the carpark
- New colourful picnic benches for outside learning and eating
- New furniture and books for the library
- Year 6 leavers hoodies
- and so much more
We have also agreed to donate further money to each class to enhance their learning as well as subside each child up to £10 for a school trip in this school year.
